Latrobe City Council has adopted the Moe Rail Precinct Masterplan with several changes to reflect the significant contribution made by the community during the consultation period.

Latrobe City mayor Cr Kellie O’Callaghan said that more than 60 submissions were received by council.

“The main issues raised in the submissions related to the location of the skate park, the provision of car parking, the Moore Street Shared zone and the location of the long bay parking.

“The draft master plan was subsequently amended to reflect additional car parking, alternative locations for long-bay parking as well as identifying a significant eucalypt tree within the precinct.

“Other issues relating to building design were noted and will be addressed through the next phase of the project which is the detailed design of the precinct,” Cr O’Callaghan explained.

“Now the plan has been adopted, the project can proceed to the next stage which is the preparation of a detailed design and the development of a business case and funding model.

“Each stage brings the project a step closer to culmination. We are grateful to the community of Moe and surrounds for their input thus far and their patience whilst the project evolves from concept to construction. The project once implemented will provide the Moe community with a safe, attractive, vibrant town centre that will assist the town in attracting additional investment into its centre."
